Manage your Gmail account directly from your Mac
MailFlow: Smart Mail Assistant is a native macOS email client that helps users access and manage their Gmail accounts directly from their Mac.
MailFlow allows users to read, organize, compose, send, trash, and permanently delete Gmail messages without keeping Gmail open in a web browser.
The purpose of MailFlow is to provide a focused desktop email experience. All email actions are initiated and controlled by the user.
What MailFlow can do
After connecting a Google account, users can:
- View Gmail messages
- View senders, subjects, previews, labels, and message status
- Search displayed messages
- Compose and send new email
- Mark messages as read or unread
- Star and unstar messages
- Archive messages
- Move messages to Trash
- Permanently delete messages from Trash after confirmation
- Access Inbox, Starred, Important, Sent, Drafts, Spam, and Trash folders
- Receive notifications about new messages
- Connect and manage multiple Gmail accounts
MailFlow does not automatically send, modify, or delete email. Every action must be initiated by the user.
Why MailFlow requests Gmail access
MailFlow uses the Gmail API to provide its email-management features.
Gmail access allows MailFlow to:
- Read and display Gmail messages
- Display folders, labels, and message status
- Compose and send messages requested by the user
- Mark messages as read or unread
- Star and archive messages
- Move messages to Trash
- Permanently delete messages when explicitly requested and confirmed
MailFlow requests the following Gmail OAuth scope:

This permission is required because MailFlow supports permanent deletion from the Trash mailbox. Narrower Gmail permissions do not allow immediate permanent deletion.
Permanent deletion protection
Permanent deletion is available only from the Trash mailbox.
Before deleting a message permanently, MailFlow:
- Requires the user to select the message.
- Displays a permanent-deletion warning.
- Requires explicit confirmation.
- Deletes the message only after confirmation.
MailFlow never permanently deletes messages automatically.
How Google user data is handled
MailFlow communicates directly with Google’s Gmail API.
- Google OAuth tokens are stored locally in the macOS Keychain.
- MailFlow never asks for the user’s Google password.
- Google passwords are not collected, viewed, or stored.
- Gmail information is accessed only to provide visible email features.
- MailFlow does not operate a developer-controlled server that stores copies of users’ mailboxes.
- MailFlow does not sell Google user data.
- MailFlow does not share Gmail data with advertisers or data brokers.
- MailFlow does not use Gmail data for advertising.
- MailFlow does not use Gmail data to train artificial-intelligence models.
User control and consent
Connecting a Google account is optional.
Before granting access, Google displays the permissions requested by MailFlow. Users can review, accept, or decline those permissions.
Users can:
- Choose which Google account to connect
- Initiate every email action
- Cancel potentially destructive actions
- Disconnect an account from MailFlow
- Remove locally stored OAuth credentials
- Revoke MailFlow’s access through their Google Account
